![]() | Washington Irving Illustration - The Capitulation - Illustrations An illustration from the 1851 edition of "The Alhambra", written by Washington Irving and illustrated by Felix O. C. Darley, published by George P. Putnam, New York. Washington Irving, 1783-1859, lodged in the Alhambra in 1829, and wrote his highly romanticised "Tales of the Alhambra" as a result. In so doing, he set in motion the romantic movement's enduring love affair with Granada but also, probably, the start of the slow restoration of the palace. Number of Votes: 0 Comments: 0
