Painters - Murillo O Los Niņos - Karel Capek

"He also painted pretty curly-haird boys from Triana or one of the suburbs (of Sevilla); Today these pictures of boys are scattered in museums all over the world, but those boys themselves are in Spain to this very day...and when they spy a foreigner looking for the children of Murillo, they rush round him uttering a war-cry, and exhort pesetas and perros from him in the unabashed and traditional mendicant manner of southern children."
An illustration from the book "Letters From Spain" written and illustrated by Karel Capek, translated by Paul Selver, published by George Bles, London, 1931. Capek, (1890-1938), the Czech writer best known for his plays, wrote a number of travel books in an amused and urbane style which suffused his accompanying drawings as well. He invented the word 'robot'.
