Belmonte In Lima, Peru - Bullfighting

An early card of Juan Belmonte, 1892-1962, in Lima. Peru. He is marked with a cross. A postcard of the famous bullfighter Juan Belmonte GarcĂa , (1892-1962) who substantially modified the art of bullfighting. He is thought by many to be the greatest bullfighter of all time. His style, standing motionless and upright very close to the bull, was more dangerous, and different from that of toreros before. In failing health, due to his many injuries and exuberant life style, he finally took his own life at his estate near Utrera, shooting himself in a manner similar to his great friend Ernest Hemingway the year before. A card by Fernando Martinez, Fotografo.
